The 40-hour course is specifically designed for workers who are involved in clean-up operations, voluntary clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and storage, disposal, or treatment of hazardous substances or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. HAZWOPER 40 Hour is required for employees working on a project consisting of Uncontrolled Hazardous Waste Operation mandated by the Government.

The 24-hour course covers broad issues pertaining to the hazard recognition at work sites. HAZWOPER 24 Hour is required for employees visiting an Uncontrolled Hazardous Waste Operation mandated by the Government.

The 8-hour refresher course meets the requirements outlined in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 for 8 (eight) hours of annual refresher training for workers at hazardous waste sites. This course is designed for general site workers who remove hazardous waste or who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances or health hazards.

OSHA requires that employees be trained on lockout policies and procedures. Training is done to ensure that the purpose and function of the energy control program are understood by employees and that the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage, and removal of the energy controls are acquired by employees.

OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard, also known as HAZCOM is a federal regulation (29 CFR 1910.1200) that specifies that when hazardous chemicals are present in the workplace employees have a right to know about the risks involved with storing and handling such substances. The Hazard Communication Standard is now aligned with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) which is a worldwide standard.

OSHA requires employers to train and fit test employees that use respiratory protection at work. This required annual training provides an opportunity to explain the importance of respiratory protection and offer a refresher course on the proper use, limitations, and care of their personal protection equipment.

If fire extinguishers are available for employee use, it is the employer’s responsibility to educate employees on the principles and practices of using a fire extinguisher and the hazards associated with fighting small or developing fires. [29 CFR 1910.157(g)(1)] This education must be provided annually and when a new employee is first hired. [29 CFR 1910.157(g)(2)]

Employees who have been designated to use fire extinguishers as part of the emergency action plan, must be trained on how to use the fire extinguishers appropriately in the workplace. [29 CFR 1910.157(g)(3)] This training is a specialized form of education that focuses on developing or improving skills and it must be provided annually and when employees are first assigned these duties. [29 CFR 1910.157(g)(4)]

This course is designed to protect those working around or entering confined spaces. You will learn the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics about working in and around confined spaces. Course objectives include:

Understand the scope & application of OSHA’s confined space entry standards.

Identify and differentiate between “Confined Spaces” and “Permit Required” confined spaces.

Understand OSHA requirements for a “Permit-Required Confined Space Entry Program”.

Know the responsibilities of entrants, attendants, and entry supervisors.

Utilizing “Alternate Entry” and “Reclassification” procedures.

Understand the requirements and limitations for “Rescue & Emergency Services”.

Understand proper air monitoring methods and equipment.
